Right before beginning a conference call with reporters Monday, Cincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart was in his basement chipping golf balls at his home near Indianapolis.
“When we’re all said and done, and I’m able to get out on a golf course, I should be pretty damn good,” Barnhart said.
It’s been about 2 ½ weeks since Major League Baseball suspended spring training and postponed the start of the season because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Barnhart said it’s tough for him to sit at home. He often asks his wife, Sierra, who is pregnant and due to deliver in July, and his young son if they want to ride around in the car.
