St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter admitted any time he hits the ball to center field against the Cincinnati Reds, he gets a bad feeling about it.
It’s easy to understand why.
Billy Hamilton robbed Carpenter of a home run in the seventh inning during the Reds’ 9-1 victory at Busch Stadium. From the mound, Reds reliever Amir Garrett was in disbelief. Interim manager Jim Riggleman called it “unbelievable.”
“That was a pretty remarkable catch,” Carpenter told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Rick Hummel. “It was a great play, no doubt about it.
