Cincinnati Reds beat Twins 8-2 to take series

MINNEAPOLIS - You don’t quickly dig yourself out of the kind of hole the Reds put themselves in with the horrendous start. You do it by winning series.

The Reds did that up north, taking two of three from the Minnesota Twins. Sunday’s 8-2 win before a crowd of 25,677 at Target Field was a testimony to how putting the ball in play is a good thing. Three of Reds’ runs scored on fielder’s choices. Ten of their 14 hits were singles. All nine starters had at least one hit.

“A lot of good at-bats," Riggleman said.
