After all the pushing, shoving, yelling and screaming, the Reds said they wanted to go out and win a game and thus the series.
They did that, beating their rival Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 in a mostly routine game Wednesday before a crowd of 20,886 at Great American Ball Park.
The only lingering effect on brawl: When managers David Bell and Clint Hurdle met for the exchange of the lineup cards, each shook hands with all the umpires, but not with each other.
Reds ace Luis Castillo went seven-plus innings, allowing one run, to win his 10th game of the season.
