As the Cincinnati Reds continue to remain involved with free-agent shortstops, their payroll for the upcoming season became a bit more clear on Friday.
The Reds reached agreements with all six of their arbitration-eligible players to avoid an arbitration hearing. Michael Lorenzen ($4.4375 million), Luis Castillo ($4.2 million), Jesse Winker ($3.15 million), Tyler Mahle ($2.2 million), Amir Garrett ($1.5 million) and Noé Ramirez ($1.175 million) agreed to terms on one-year contracts, according to sources. Lorenzen is the only one who will become a free agent following the 2021 season.
It’s the second straight year that the Reds avoided arbitration hearings with all of their players, but only the third time since 2016.
