The Cincinnati Reds abandoned their spring training confines of Goodyear, Arizona and headed east over the weekend. I’m picturing Joey Votto driving a ‘97 Jeep Cherokee with laundry baskets full of old records and sweaty sneakers stacked to the ceiling in the back, the weight of it making it ride a little too low, with Sonny Gray riding shotgun, slapping his hand on the roof as they jam to some Creedence tapes all night long.
Round about Missouri, though, they turned right, heading south to Atlanta for a pair of exhibition games against the Braves before the regular season officially starts.
