The Cincinnati Reds made their final two moves to complete their Opening Day roster Friday when they added infielders Matt Davidson and Christian Colón to the 30-man roster.
The Reds designated pitcher Justin Shafer and Josh D. Smith for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Davidson and Colón.
Davidson, 29, spent the entire 2019 season at Triple-A Nashville with the Texas Rangers. He had 33 home runs and 101 RBI after making some changes to his swing. He played in 2017-18 with the Chicago White Sox, totaling 46 homers in those two seasons.
"We know and have known coming in that he can hit,” Reds manager David Bell said of Davidson last weekend.
