After Cincinnati Reds first-base coach Delino DeShields completed a joint pregame interview with his son, Delino, he said, “It’s only about baseball from here," as he walked out of the room.
It was a dream come true for the DeShields family when outfielder Delino DeShields, who they acquired in a minor-league trade Tuesday, was one of the two position players promoted to the big leagues when the September rosters expanded from 26 players to 28.
“This is something that we’ve talked about for a long time,” the younger DeShields said. “He’s coached me when I was younger.
