As expected, the Reds activated right-hander Michael Lorenzen from the disabled list on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has missed the entire 2016 season to this point due to an elbow strain and a bout with mononucleosis. Due to concerns with the health of his arm, he will head to the bullpen just like Opening Day starter Raisel Iglesias, who returned to action on Tuesday.
Lorenzen was dominant in his rehab appearances in Triple-A Louisville, striking out seven in four scoreless innings and allowing only two hits. Courier-Journal reporter Steve Bittenbender reported that Lorenzen was throwing 98 mph.
