CHICAGO – The Cincinnati Reds' bullpen has the highest ERA (5.36) in the Majors, but some help is on the way.
The Reds acquired right-hander Luis Cessa and lefty Justin Wilson in a trade with the New York Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for a player to be named later, the team announced.
Despite sitting six games out of a playoff spot, entering Wednesday, the Reds showed they wanted to be opportunistic buyers ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The two relievers could provide a much-needed boost to their bullpen, which has a 6.85 ERA following the All-Star break.
