Chicago Cubs spoil Matt Harvey's strong start, beat Cincinnati Reds 3-2

CHICAGO – Matt Harvey silenced the Chicago Cubs lineup for six innings Friday, but it didn’t take long for the Cubs to attack the Cincinnati Reds’ bullpen.

Four batters after Harvey exited, Cubs center fielder Ian Happ brought the Wrigley Field crowd of 36,468 to their feet with a three-run home run against reliever David Hernandez in the bottom of the seventh inning.

That’s all it took.

After a 3-2 loss to open this weekend’s three-game series, the Reds have dropped seven consecutive games against the Cubs.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Cubs catcher Victor Caratini opened with a single against Hernandez.
