Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto and Milwaukee Brewers catcher Erik Kratz had a heated face-to-face discussion during Votto's at-bat in the bottom of the third inning that resulted in both teams' benches clearing with the teams tied at two, and the Brewers' broadcast on FOX Sports Wisconsin of the altercation featured an analyst believed to be Bill "Rock" Schroeder saying, "I got Kratz in this one."
Votto appeared to be discussing a call with the home plate umpire when Kratz engaged with him. Votto appeared to explain to Kratz that he was having a conversation with the umpire that Kratz wasn't part of as both players got more agitated.
