Former Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips will play in Lexington on Wednesday night as the Legends face the Florence Freedom at Whitaker Bank Ballpark as part of the ongoing Battle of the Bourbon Trail series.
Phillips, who turned 39 in June, homered for the Baseball Brilliance Sox last month against the Steel City Slammin' Sammies at Washington Wild Things Park.
Last June, Phillips was playing for the independent Vallejo Admirals - managed by his brother P.J.
In 2018, Phillips - despite making just 27 regular-season plate appearances - got his first World Series ring in 17 big-league seasons with the Boston Red Sox defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.
