Former Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips will not only play for the Lexington Legends on Wednesday night in front of a sold-out Whitaker Bank Ballpark against the Florence Freedom, the Legends announced via Twitter that Phillips will remain with the team for the rest of the Battle of the Bourbon Trail.
The series involving the Legends, the Freedom, the Florence Y'alls and the Lexington Las Leyendas continues through Sept. 13 at Lexington's Whitaker Bank Ballpark and Florence's UC Health Stadium.
Wednesday's matchup in Florence features a showdown between former Moeller High School pitchers:
Phillips, who turned 39 in June, homered for the Baseball Brilliance Sox last month against the Steel City Slammin' Sammies at Washington Wild Things Park.
