When MLB announced an updated 2020 schedule, the Chicago Cubs didn’t expect Alec Mills to break camp as the fifth starter and the Cincinnati Reds didn’t expect Tyler Mahle to have a spot in the rotation. But Cubs starter José Quintana is out with a thumb injury and Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani is out with a strained shoulder.
So two projected long relievers will take the mound Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park for the Reds (1-3) game against the Cubs (3-1).
