Bad defense, little offense results in Cincinnati Reds' fifth straight loss to Pirates

PITTSBURGH – It was bad enough the Cincinnati Reds dropped their fifth straight game to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the last-place team in the division, but Monday was one of those ugly games where little went right.

The Reds committed two errors, which both led to runs. The offense produced five hits. The Pirates batted around in the seventh inning.

Add it up and the Reds were thoroughly outplayed in an 8-3 loss at PNC Park in front of a generously announced crowd of 8,766. The Reds must win three of their final eight games to avoid reaching 100 losses for the second time in club history.
