LOS ANGELES – One of the things that Matt Kemp appreciates about Jackie Robinson Day at Dodger Stadium is how it brings people together. Each player is wearing Robinson’s No. 42. More entertainers will show up, adding hype to the game.
Kemp’s teammates knew it would be special to honor Robinson in Los Angeles as baseball commemorated Robinson’s 100th birthday this year. Jackie Robinson’s wife (Rachel), daughter (Sharon) and son (David) were scheduled to throw the ceremonial first pitch.
Singer Aloe Blacc was expected to do a pre-game performance before the nationally televised game and Grammy-winning musician Herbie Hancock was scheduled to be a part of the pre-game festivities.
