Anthony DeSclafani placed on 10-day injured list; Cincinnati Reds set Opening Day roster

Anthony DeSclafani pitched well throughout preseason camp, but he will miss at least one start at the beginning of the 2020 season.

The Cincinnati Reds announced Thursday that DeSclafani was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mild right teres major strain, which is near the rotator cuff. The Reds don't view it as a long-term injury and are hopeful he will miss only one start. The move to the IL was retroactive to Monday, so he's eligible to return on July 30.

DeSclafani was scheduled to start Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs. Tyler Mahle will likely move into a starting role with DeSclafani sidelined.
