ST. LOUIS – We’ll have more in a bit on the Cincinnati Reds’ 2-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday at Busch Stadium. Until then, here are the main storylines.
Amir Garrett twirled a gem in his big-league debut. Garrett started his first major-league game by walking the leadoff batter, but that’s about all the drama he allowed for the night. The 24-year-old left-hander needed just 78 pitches to complete six innings against the Cardinals, allowing just two hits and two walks.
He mostly alternated between four-seam and two-seam fastballs, generating a lot of early contact to produce quick innings.
