CINCINNATI -- The Reds played with fire again as a Cardinals rookie starting pitcher took a no-hitter against them into the late innings. Although a fire alarm temporarily halted the game in what proved to be a pivotal seventh inning, it was Homer Bailey who contained the St. Louis bats long enough to keep his team in the game.
While Austin Gomber took a no-hitter into the seventh, Bailey produced 6 2/3 quality innings of his own. Ultimately both pitchers' performances were rendered moot for no-decisions as the Reds lost, 4-2, in 11 innings on Dexter Fowler's two-run homer off Amir Garrett.
