SAN DIEGO – The top two hitter in the Cincinnati Reds batting order are dealing with nagging injuries, and were kept on the bench to start Wednesday’s season finale against the San Diego Padres.
Leadoff hitter Billy Hamilton is fighting a left thumb issue, and two-hole hitter Zack Cozart has quad tightness. Hamilton also missed a game with the injury Saturday in Los Angeles, and Cozart was held out of the lineup Tuesday as well. The Reds are off Thursday, giving them a better chance to heal.
Hamilton’s injury has been bothering him for about a month, he said.
