Thursday was a gray, cold, wet day at the ballpark. The crowd of 10,586 at Great American Ball Park was the smallest announced crowd since 2009, and even that count seemed generous.
If there is an antithesis of the Big League Dream, it was Thursday.
Yet, it was a memorable day for at least four Reds pitchers, all at different stages of their careers.
The fact that the Reds walked into the clubhouse 7-4 winners over the Phillies allowed Rookie Davis to take something from his big-league debut.
Box score:Reds 7, Phillies 4
Davis, 23, pitched most of last season at Double-A Pensacola and made the team’s rotation out of spring training, one of seven rookies on the team’s 25-man Opening Day roster.
