The Cincinnati Reds have hit 66 homers this season, 60 more extra-base hits and dozens of line drives that were caught.
Among all those swings, no player hit a ball better than Joey Votto crushed his two-run homer in the first inning Friday in the Reds’ 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Votto’s 113.2-mph exit velocity was the team’s highest of the season and it was Votto’s hardest-hit ball since Statcast began tracking data in 2015.
“From what I’ve heard, that was – when did he win the MVP? – 2010 Joey bombs,” teammate Kyle Farmer said.
