The Cincinnati Reds have come to terms with third baseman Todd Frazier on a two-year, $12 million deal, per sources cited by CBS Sports Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.
Frazier had filed for $5.7 million in arbitration for the 2015 season, while the Reds had countered with a $3.9 million. Rather than going to battle in a hearing, Frazier decided to accept $4.5 million for 2015, and a $3 million raise to $7.5 million in 2016.
"We went back and forth with all of the options," Frazier told MLB.com. "My agent thought this was the best one."
Frazier made the National League All-Star team in his fourth MLB season (all with the Reds), posting a .273/.336/.459 slash line in 2014 with career highs in home runs (29), RBIs (80), hits (163), runs scored (88), and stolen bases (20).
He will now reap the rewards with two years of security and the potential for an even bigger payday after the 2016 season.
