Since before the Cincinnati Bengals secured the first overall selection in the 2020 draft, there has been speculation surrounding what it would take for them to trade out of that spot. The argument has been that the team has a lot of holes on the roster, so trading back and acquiring multiple premium draft picks would help them field a competitive team sooner rather than later.
However, in an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, head coach Zac Taylor proved he knows exactly what he’s doing at the helm in Cincinnati. When discussing the first overall selection, he had this to say,
“If there’s a guy there that you believe in that can really change the franchise over the next 10-15 years, then that’s a hard thing to pass up on.
