The Cincinnati Bengals played their first preseason game this past Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were plenty of positives, which included rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton hauling in two deep passes, including a touchdown. The only issue? He didn’t play most of the game.
Head coach Zac Taylor acknowledged the absence of snaps and passed along this as the reason.
“There’s just zero rhythm whatsoever (in the) second quarter midway through the third quarter to where we weren’t focused on just getting guys in there — we focused on getting first downs so we could run the ball and call some stuff off of it,” Taylor told reporters following the game.
