Zac Taylor was 27 years old, and Jim Turner was 45.
Back in 2010, Taylor and Turner worked together as assistant coaches at Texas A&M. Taylor coached the tight ends, and Turner was the Aggies offensive line coach.
They couldn’t have been more different – Taylor was an up-and-comer barely removed from his playing career, and Turner had already been an assistant football coach for 16 seasons. Taylor had starred as the University of Nebraska’s starting quarterback, and Turner played fullback at Boston College University in the 1980s before serving for four years in the Marines.
Former Texas A&M offensive lineman Evan Eike said it was a unique partnership.
