VICE TV's 'Dark Side of the Ring' returns with documentary on Cincinnati's Brian Pillman

VICE TV's popular "Dark Side of the Ring" series, which focuses on exploring professional wrestling, returns May 6 with a documentary on Cincinnati native Brian Pillman.

Pillman, a former star at Norwood High School and Miami University, played with the Bengals in 1984 before transitioning into a professional wrestling career.

Nicknamed "Flyin' Brian" earlier in his career, and "The Loose Cannon" in his later years, Pillman died on Oct. 5, 1997 at age 35.

A favorite of NFL writer Peter King, who wrote for the Enquirer at the time, he made the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 1984 where he won the Ed Block Courage Award.
