Tuesday Trenches: Bright spots in a Chicago dumpster fire

Raise your hand if you care that the Cincinnati Bengals got clobbered on the scoreboard by the Chicago Bears on Saturday in their second preseason game.

The score doesn’t matter at this point in the season, and they have one more practice game to go before things get real.

The Bears played their starting offense throughout the first half, and their starting defense for a vast majority of the first half as well.

The Bengals, on the other hand, started without five of their starting six receivers, and sat all starters, with the exception of cornerbacks DJ Turner and Dax Hill, who are currently fighting to start opposite Cam Taylor-Britt.
