The success of the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense might be the biggest surprise of the NFL season.
When defensive coaches and players of the Bengals are asked what is behind the turnaround the unit made this season, the answer typically ends with someone saying they are a unit with “no egos.”
And while the Bengals’ offense is full of star power and was one of the most explosive units in the NFL this season, Cincinnati’s defense was the more consistent group.
Without the stellar play of defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s group against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship, the Bengals wouldn’t be playing for a chance to win the Lombardi Trophy.
