August 27 is right around the corner, and the Cincinnati Bengals, like the other 31 NFL teams, will be required to announce their final 53-man rosters. This means that teams will be purging players left and right over the next week.
Each team will have a handful of tough decisions to make. That’s just the nature of the business. There are only 32 teams, and some positions, like kicker and punter, don’t need any depth, so the 33rd-best punter or kicker in the world is just unemployed.
There are other tough cuts as well. Some teams have great depth at a position that forces them to cut someone who could start for another team.
