The Bengals start what is being called possibly the best of their nine drafts with a start. For the first of their two first-round picks, they don’t take a running back but the proverbial “best player available,” when they select Oklahoma wide receiver Billy Brooks at No. 11, the pick obtained from Philadelphia for quarterback Mike Boryla. Then they reverse field and with their own pick take the running back later in the round. But it’s clear it’s just not any running back when Bengals general manager Paul Brown draws out the drama as he emerges from the draft room.
