The Cincinnati Bengals have placed defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins on the reserve/non-football illness list, the team announced Monday.
Rankins, a ninth-year player, has played in seven games this season (all starts) and totaled 18 tackles with one sack. He signed with the Bengals this offseason to a lucrative two-year, $24.5 million contract.
However, It’s been nothing short of a disaster that will have the Bengals seriously consider cutting him this offseason. Before Rankins was struck with a mysterious illness, he missed time earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury.
If the Bengals cut Rankins, they’ll save $9.
