Heading into Tuesday’s cutdown deadline, the Cincinnati Bengals are poised to have just three ‘current’ running backs on the 53-man roster.
While no one doubts that Zack Moss and Chase Brown will carry the load with occasional touches by Trayveon Williams, no other back has come close to proving they’re worthy of a 53-man roster spot.
Most NFL teams opt to keep four running backs, so it stands to reason that an outside addition could be made in the Bengals backfield. It just so happens that former Bengals backup Samaje Perine is likely to be let go by the Denver Broncos.
