The first thing the Bengals front office did in the 2020 offseason was add depth at cornerback.
The day after the 2019 regular season ended, Cincinnati claimed cornerback Tony Brown. On December 31, the Bengals acquired Winston Rose. When free agency started in March, Cincinnati added three more defensive backs and made Trae Waynes one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the NFL.
When the Bengals reported for training camp, William Jackson III and Darius Phillips were the only cornerbacks on the roster who had started a game for Cincinnati.
Waynes suffered a pectoral injury during training camp, so Jackson, Phillips and Mackensie Alexander are expected to start next week against the Los Angeles Chargers.
