Rickey Dixon, former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back, dies at 53

Former Cincinnati Bengals and Oklahoma Sooners defensive back Rickey Dixon died Saturday, according to former Oklahoma University head coach Barry Switzer. He was 53.

Dixon was diagnosed with ALS in 2013.

The Bengals selected Dixon with the fifth pick of the 1988 NFL Draft. He played for the team until 1992, which included an appearance in Super Bowl XXIII in January of 1989.

Dixon was elected in Jan. 2019 to the College Football Hall of Fame. He was inducted last December as part of the Hall's Class of 2019.
