INDIANAPOLIS – Updated and tweaked NFL rules – namely, the offseason alterations to the roughing the passer penalty and the addition of the targeting penalty and ejection – were at the forefront of the Bengals season opener against the Colts.
Much more than the Colts, the Bengals received an education in how those rules will likely be applied, and that their current understanding and application of the rules barely sufficed on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
