Tyler Eifert is the closest thing the Bengals have had to Bob Trumpy since, well, Bob Trumpy.
And Trumpy, the Bengals’ four-time Pro Bowl tight end, agrees.
“Dan Ross wasn’t as fast. Rodney Holman was bigger, not as fast,” Trumpy said. “But as far as the dimensions, long, lanky and can get down the field, yeah, I’ll grant you that.”
Eifert, who is leading the NFL with nine of his 37 catches going for touchdowns at the halfway point, has been staring at Trumpy’s name for the past three years at the top of the Pro Bowl list in the team meeting room.
