Alex Smith has always had a reputation as a game manager – nothing spectacular, just not a lot of mistakes. But not this year.
Not only did Smith finish as the 8th best quarterback in the NFL, he was actually third in the number of passes he completed that went for over 40 yards with 13.
Smith completed 341 of 505 passes this season for 4,042 yards, 26 touchdowns and only five interceptions, good for an overall rating of 104.7. And he is made even more dangerous by the presence of the league’s top rusher in rookie running back Kareem Hunt, who piled up 1,327 yards on 272 carries, an average of 4.
