Former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was trending on Twitter on Wednesday after NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah tweeted that Lewis' name has come up repeatedly with regard to NFL head coaching openings, ESPN's Chris Mortensen tweeted that Lewis will get "legit interviews," and ESPN's Damien Woody tweeted that he would rather see the New York Jets hire Lewis than a "hot-shot coordinator."
Some of the conversation has involved the Bengals' success with Lewis as head coach compared with the two seasons since he left Cincinnati:
Lewis, the head coach in Cincinnati from 2003 until he and the Bengals parted ways at the conclusion of the 2018 season, was named the Arizona State University Sun Devils' co-defensive coordinator in February after serving the previous season as a special advisor to ASU head coach Herm Edwards.
