Those lunch-time sessions backup quarterback AJ McCarron has been sharing with rookie wide receiver Mario Alford turned into a feast Saturday when they hooked up for a 24-yard touchdown pass to highlight the Bengals’ Family Day practice Saturday afternoon at Paul Brown Stadium.
Before an estimated crowd of 7,500, head coach Marvin Lewis pared down the once mighty Mock Game to an up-tempo practice that consisted of him putting his first, second, and third-team offenses in various situations.
McCarron also found Alford, the seventh-round speedster from West Virginia, for another big play (an estimated 20-yarder) during a one-minute drill that resulted in rookie Tom Obarski’s 31-yard field goal.
