The Cincinnati Bengals have been pretty high on rookie cornerback Josh Newton this offseason. He was a fifth-round pick out of TCU. He started off the preseason with a pick against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It seemed like Newton was in for another good day as he started off the game with a great breakup against DJ Moore on third down.
It didn’t keep going that way, however. He gave up a huge play to fellow wide receiver Rome Odunze as quarterback Caleb Williams was able to break the pocket. He also had a penalty that gave the Chicago Bears a first down in the red zone.
