Joe Burrow hasn’t taken a snap for the Cincinnati Bengals, but he’s already a team captain.
Burrow will be the first quarterback selected with the first pick of the NFL Draft to be a captain for his first game since 2012, when Andrew Luck started for the Indianapolis Colts.
The Bengals didn’t name former quarterback Andy Dalton a team captain until Nov. 26, 2012. At that point Dalton had already started 27 games, led the Bengals to the playoffs and thrown for 6,167 yards.
Burrow didn’t have to wait that long.
“It was one of my goals coming in,” Burrow said.
