As expected when the Cincinnati Bengals and safety Jessie Bates failed to reach a long-term extension by the July 15 deadline, Bates did not report to training camp on Tuesday, a source told The Enquirer.
Bates has yet to sign his franchise tag and has spoken about his desire to not play on the tag. It's unlikely Bates would show up and practice without signing the tag because of potential risk of injury. If Bates signs the franchise tag, he'll receive close to $13 million fully guaranteed.
The next date to be on the lookout for is Nov.
