As the Cincinnati Bengals look to hammer out a long-term contract extension for Ja’Marr Chase, he’s opting not to practice for the time being.
However, Chase has been present for nearly all of training camp thus far as he’s staged what looks like a hold-in. Basically, he’s been reporting for practice and standing on the sideline while occasionally doing some light drill work.
When NFL players want a new contract, they often stage holdouts in which they don’t report to the team until a new deal is reached or the regular season begins.
For Chase, he didn’t really have the option to hold out, at least not right away.
