When the NFL calendar was first released, the Cincinnati Bengals were scheduled to travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their third preseason game. Instead, because of the cancellation of preseason games due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Bengals took the field at Paul Brown Stadium to have their most important intrasquad scrimmage.
The Bengals attempted to simulate preseason game No. 3 on Sunday night in what was somewhat of a regular season dress rehearsal. Bengals assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons imitated a referee, they had a chain gang and coaches were wearing headsets.
