Marvin Lewis speaks at his last press conference. Cincinnati Enquirer
It was time. Past time, actually. Sixteen years as a head coach in the NFL is more than a lifetime. It’s a few generations. Carson Palmer to Andy Dalton, Chad Johnson to A.J. Green. Four-and-12 to 12-4, wilderness to (almost) Promised Land, and back. Marvin Lewis had done all he could. It’s someone else’s turn now.
"Mike and I both decided it’s time. We both realized it," Lewis said Monday. "I didn’t deliver what the No. 1 goal is."
It’d take more than the allotted 700 words here, to give Lewis his due while also applauding his departure.
