When the Cincinnati Bengals selected DJ Turner out of the University of Michigan, they drafted the fastest player in the 2023 NFL Draft class. Turner ran a blazing 4.26-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine and then found him selected in the second round.
Turner came in as a rookie, expected to play behind Cam Taylor-Britt and Chidobe Awuzie as an outside corner. However, nagging injuries kept Awuzie sidelined for parts of the season, giving Turner an opportunity to see the field more than anyone expected.
Turner’s first season had peaks and valleys, which is expected for a rookie cornerback.
