After Friday’s workout the Bengals ruled out quarterback Andy Dalton for the fourth straight week with his broken throwing thumb along with H-Back Ryan Hewitt (knee).
The only other Bengal on Friday’s injury report in the run-up to Saturday night’s Wild Card game against the Steelers (8:15-Cincinnati’s Channel 12) at Paul Brown Stadium is slot cornerback Leon Hall (concussion/back) and he’s probable after practicing full all week.
Dalton hasn’t practiced since breaking his thumb Dec. 13 against the Steelers when he made a tackle after throwing an interception. AJ McCarron’s fourth NFL start comes in the Bengals’ fifth straight Wild Card appearance as he joins the list of Dalton (2011-14), Carson Palmer (2005, 2009), Boomer Esiason (1988, 1990), Ken Anderson (1973, 1975, 1981-82) and Virgil Carter (1970) as the club’s post-season quarterbacks.
