Cincinnati Bengals Xtra: Examining Cedric Ogbuehi’s role and Tyler Eifert’s incentives

Since the Bengals drafted offensive tackles Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher in the 2015 NFL Draft, the organizational plan was for them to step in as starters this season. This will be only the 11th tackle combination for the Bengals since 1996. The Enquirer/Mike Nyerges

It’s been a strange run for Cedric Ogbuehi since he was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2015.

And this year, his fourth, is likely his last to prove he deserves a second contract from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The deadline for the club to pick up Ogbuehi’s fifth-year option is May 2, but with that number likely to be pushing up close to $10 million for 2019 (picks 11-32 receive a salary that is the average of the third through 25th highest salaries at their position), he hasn’t done enough to warrant the club making that decision.
